EMPLOYMENT AND EDUCATION

The Broward County Reentry Coalition’s Employment and Education Subcommittee assists returning citizens with resources to help them find meaningful opportunities to enjoy a fulfilling career.

In addition to providing information and referrals for GED, college, vocational training, licensing and certification, this subcommittee provides referrals to companies looking to hire, and conducts employment resource fairs, where candidates can meet one-on-one with employers.

The Subcommittee also educates companies on the many government incentives to hire a returning citizen. There are substantial tax credits available, such as the Federal Work Opportunity Tax Credit and employers who hire felons can also be eligible to obtain a free fidelity bond funded by the federal government.

Mission/Objective Statement:

The Mission of the Employment and Education Sub-committee of the Broward Reentry Coalition is to inform and empower employers in the South Florida area of the benefits of hiring hard-working employees with adverse backgrounds, while also providing access to resources for individuals needing employment assistance. The subcommittee will serve the Broward Reentry Coalition to develop community partnerships, engage potential employers and solicit individuals for employment. Updates of these endeavors will be provided to the Coalition membership on a consistent basis.
